Improved Multistage Detector by Mean-Field Annealing in Multi-User CDMA

چکیده
We propose a multistage multi-user detector for Code Division Multiple Access that implements Mean-Field Annealing. Annealing is a well known technique to avoid local minima in detection and optimisation problems. Local minima certainly occurs in CDMA multi-user detection leading to anomalous Bit Error Rate curves. Annealing is implemented as a standard multi-user detector implementing interference cancellation, but with a control parameter determining the slope of the squashing/mapping function. We derive a bound on the control parameter for the first stage of the detector. We also propose an annealing scheme. We show empirically the performance of the proposed detector, which follows closely the optimum detector implemented by exhaustive search, i.e. has gains of several dB’s compared to standard multiuser detectors like linear-MMSE, linear-MMSE first stage followed by interference cancellation, and multi-stage interference cancellation with clipped soft decision, the last being the closest to our proposed detector. The proposed detector gains up to dB compared to the Clipped Soft Decision Multistage detector at no added complexity. Keywords— CDMA, Multistage Multi-User Detection, Interference Cancellation, Anomalous -curves.

متن کاملNonlinear Multiuser Receiver for Optimized Chaos-Based DS-CDMA Systems
Chaos based communications have drawn increasing attention over the past years. Chaotic signals are derived from non-linear dynamic systems. They are aperiodic, broadband and deterministic signals that appear random in the time domain. Because of these properties, chaotic signals have been proposed to generate spreading sequences for wide-band secure communication recently. Like conventional DS...

This paper presents the results related to the interference reduction technique in multistage multiuser detector for asynchronous DS-CDMA system. To meet the real-time requirements for asynchronous multiuser detection, a bit streaming, cascade architecture is used. An asynchronous multiuser detection involves block-based computations and matrix inversions. The paper covers iterative-based subop...
متن کاملA common framework for blind multistage multiuser receivers of DS-CDMA in frequency-selective fading channels
The multistage (MS) Wiener filter proposed in [1] is extended to blind maximum likelihood (ML) multiuser detection for direct-sequence (DS) code-division multiple access (CDMA) systems. This multistage ML detector is shown to share the same structure with the MS minimum-mean squared error (MMSE), minimum output energy (MOE) and best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) filter banks (FBs) derived in...

Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) system is well known wireless technology. This system suffers from MAI (Multiple Access Interference) caused by Direct Sequence users. Multi-User Detection schemes were introduced to detect the users’ data in presence of MAI. In Multi stage Partial parallel interference cancellation (MP-PIC) method complexity is more than multi stage conve...
